CEUAS - ROMANIA 2007

Il villaggio di Ceuas è uno dei maggiori centri per la musica della Transylvania. Qui sono nati e vivono tuttora alcuni tra i più grandi musicisti Rom d’europa. Molti sono professionisti, nonostante spesso le loro famiglie(soprattutto gli uomini) siano costretti ad emigrare stagionalmente per lavoro. Molti di loro per esempio vanno a lavorare nelle fabbriche di birra in Slovenia. Da parecchi anni gli etnomusicologi hanno rivolto i loro studi verso questa realtà, attratti dal virtuosismo degli strumentisti e dallo stretto collegamento tra musica e le danze tradizionali Rom.
 A Ceuas c’è un festival estivo di musica Rom e ungherese dove si tengono master class e corsi per principianti. Questi ritratti sono stati scattati durante l’estate 2007 e cercano di mostrare, oltre l’attività musicale, l’ambiente in cui vivono gli abitanti Rom del villaggio. Per approfondimenti: Filippo Bonini Baraldi, etnomusicologo specializzato sui Rom di Transylvania.

The village of Ceuas is one of the major centre for the Music of Transylvania. Here are borned and live some of most important Roma musicians of Europe. Most of them are professionists, despite that often them family(mainly the men) have to emigrate seasonally to work, for example in the breweries in Slovenia. From several years the ethnomusicologists studies this reality, attract by the virtuosity of Roma musicians and by connection between traditional Roma music and Roma dance. There is an important festival of Gipsy and Hungarian music in Ceuas every august where there are master class and courses of music. These portraits are shooting during the summer 2007 and try to show, not only the music activity, but also the background where they live. For deepening: Filippo Bonini Baraldi, ethnomusicologist specialising in the traditions of Transylvanian Roma.
